Corsica is an island in the Mediterranean Sea belonging to France, located west of the Italian Peninsula and southeast of the French mainland and politically part of Metropolitan France.

The island is split into two departments: Haute-Corse (Upper Corsica) and Corse-du-Sud (Southern Corsica), with its regional capital in Ajaccio where the French emperor Napoleon was born. Due to Corsica's historical ties with the Italian peninsula, the island retains to this day many elements of Italian culture.

Sardinia is one of the five Italian autonomous regions. The Strait of Bonifacio is directly north of Sardinia and separates Sardinia from the French island of Corsica. 

Its indigenous language and the other minority languages (Sassarese, Gallurese, Catalan Alghereseand Tabarchino) enjoy "equal dignity" with Italian. 

These two islands are very different from their mainland political powers and each island has its own personality within its diverse culture. The cuisine is also unique to each island and you will discover these differences and have the opportunity to taste the most interesting of cuisines including unique wines.
